Products and Packages

Typtap Insurance Products and Packages

TypTap may not offer dozens of product lines—but what they do, they do well. Their focus on homeowners and private flood insurance is especially relevant for Floridians facing rising property risks, from hurricanes to inland flooding. Backed by custom-built technology, TypTap’s policies are designed to be fast, flexible, and fit for the modern home.

Homeowners Insurance

TypTap Home® is more than just a policy—it’s a streamlined, tech-powered experience. The company’s proprietary platform pulls in property-specific data to pre-fill much of the underwriting, often generating a quote in under a minute.

What stands out:

  • Comprehensive water damage protection, which is critical in Florida’s humid, storm-prone environment.
  • Tailored options for older homes and non-cookie-cutter builds that might get declined elsewhere.
  • Storm-ready coverage, including wind and hurricane damage, with responsive claims processing even in post-disaster surges.

This product feels purpose-built for Florida homeowners—and in many ways, it is.

Flood Insurance

If you’re tired of waiting for NFIP approvals or dealing with outdated flood maps, TypTap’s private flood insurancemight be a breath of fresh air.

Here’s how it differs from NFIP coverage:

  • Quicker binding with a digital-first quoting system—often ready to go in one session.
  • No mandatory 30-day wait (which can be a dealbreaker if a storm’s brewing).
  • More generous coverage limits and structural protections than many federal plans.

For homes in A, AE, or V zones, this can be the difference between rebuilding quickly and facing costly gaps.

Pricing & Premiums

TypTap Insurance Company Pricing & Premiums

TypTap takes a modern, data-driven approach to pricing—one that feels especially refreshing in a state like Florida, where premiums can swing wildly depending on location and risk exposure. By tapping into granular property details like roof age, elevation, and construction type, TypTap aims to offer rates that are not only fair but also customized to the individual home.

In 2023 alone, TypTap wrote over $114 million in gross premiums, marking a notable rise from previous years. That kind of growth reflects a growing confidence in their pricing model—and perhaps more importantly, a customer base that feels they’re getting good value.

Estimated Pricing Examples:

  • Flood Insurance: Homes in FEMA A and V zones often see premiums around $2,000/year, though rates vary widely based on elevation, location, and coverage limits.
  • Homeowners Insurance: Pricing is tailored to the property—factors like age, roof shape, wind mitigation features, and prior claims history all come into play.

While no two quotes are alike, many Florida homeowners report lower-than-expected premiums when switching to TypTap from older, more traditional carriers.

Discounts and Credits

TypTap Insurance Company Discounts and Offers

TypTap keeps things close to the vest when it comes to discounts. They don’t list them publicly, which can be a little frustrating for deal-seekers—but rest assured, savings are on the table. You’ll just need to ask.

While specifics vary case by case, common industry-standard discounts likely available through TypTap may include:

  • Claims-Free Discount: A reward for staying incident-free over time.
  • Loyalty Discount: Possible savings for long-time policyholders.
  • Smart Home & Security Discounts: Homes equipped with burglar alarms, fire protection systems, or smart water sensors may qualify.
  • Bundling Options: While TypTap doesn't offer multi-line policies directly, eligible bundling through HCI Group partners could unlock additional savings.

Tip: The fastest way to uncover what discounts you’re eligible for? Partner with an independent agency like Worth Insurance. We know how to navigate TypTap’s underwriting and uncover hidden savings others might miss.

Eligibility & Underwriting Requirements

Typtap Insurance Eligibility & Underwriting Requirements

TypTap’s underwriting guidelines are deliberately conservative—and frankly, that’s part of what keeps them stable in Florida’s volatile insurance climate. They’re selective about what risks they’ll write, which helps protect their policyholders from the fallout of overextension (something we’ve seen with other carriers exiting the state).

What TypTap Looks For

To qualify for TypTap coverage, your home typically needs to check several boxes—especially when it comes to age, condition, and location.

Key Eligibility Factors:

  • Roof Age and Condition: Older roofs—especially those near or past their useful life—can be a disqualifier, particularly if they lack hurricane tie-downs or updated decking.
  • Flood Zone & Elevation: Homes in high-risk flood zones (like VE or coastal AE) may be eligible, but elevation data and past loss history come into play.
  • Construction Type: Masonry construction is preferred. Frame homes might still qualify but could see adjusted pricing or stricter inspection requirements.
  • Electrical and Plumbing Systems: Homes with aluminum wiring, polybutylene plumbing, or outdated panels (like Federal Pacific) are often declined.
  • Claims History: A recent pattern of water, wind, or liability claims—especially multiple events—can lead to automatic rejection.

TypTap may also perform a digital property scan using satellite and aerial data, followed by an inspection in some cases. Their technology helps pre-screen risk factors, which means you’ll often get a decision faster—but not always the one you’re hoping for.

Got a quirky property or recent claim history? That’s where Worth Insurance comes in. We’ll help determine if TypTap is a fit—or guide you toward a carrier that’s more flexible, without compromising coverage.

Application Process

TypTap Insurance Company Application Process

Applying for coverage with TypTap is designed to be fast—but as with most things in insurance, speed isn’t the whole story. While their digital-first quoting tool can generate a rate in under a minute, knowing how to interpret that quote—and whether it’s truly the best fit for your home—takes a bit more finesse.

What to Expect When You Apply

Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of what the application typically looks like:

  1. Start Online or With an Agent: You can begin the process on TypTap’s website or by contacting Worth Insurance. We recommend starting with Worth, especially if you want to compare TypTap against other carriers side-by-side.
  2. Submit Property Information: You’ll enter your address and answer a few quick questions about your home’s construction, roof, safety features, and claims history. TypTap uses proprietary risk modeling to pull satellite and public record data, filling in many of the gaps automatically.
  3. Get a Quote in Minutes: If your property meets the eligibility guidelines, you’ll receive a personalized quote—sometimes in less than 60 seconds. For homes with unique features or borderline eligibility, a follow-up inspection or additional documentation may be requested before final approval.
  4. Review and Finalize: Once your quote is generated, it’s time to review the coverage details and any underwriting requirements. If everything looks good, you can bind coverage digitally. Otherwise, your agent can help adjust limits, add endorsements, or troubleshoot issues with eligibility.

Prefer to talk it through? Call Worth Insurance at 561-463-5814 to get live guidance. We’ll walk you through TypTap’s process, compare it with other top carriers, and help you avoid common application pitfalls—especially those that can delay your closing or leave you underinsured.

I’ve had a wonderful experience with Typ Tap insurance. I live in Cape Coral Florida, and had hurricane damage to my home from Ian. My claim was paid promptly and very fairly. I am able to have my roof replaced and my fence replaced as well as other minor repairs done. I would definitely recommend them. Everyone I know who has different insurance companies have not had the same result that I have. So thankful for Typ Tap.

I have had nothing but a positive experience with TypTap. We had damage from Hurricane Ian, and they were very easy to deal with during the claim process. Payments were made very promptly, and the damage was paid in full. It made it less stressful for me and my family. My only concern is what will our renewal rate be?

My elderly mother had house insurance from TypTap and missed a payment because she didn’t realize that it was her house insurance bill. She called and explained that it was a mistake and she would pay what she owed. They canceled her house insurance and said they would review and see if she could renew and they would call and let her know. Never received any calls or response.

When damage happens, the last thing you want is confusion about what to do next. Thankfully, TypTap’s claims process is designed to be as straightforward as possible—and filing promptly can make a big difference in how quickly your case is resolved.

Step-by-Step Claim Process

  1. Report the Claim: Call TypTap directly at 844-289-7968 or email fnol@typtap.com to initiate your claim. Try to contact them as soon as possible after the event—timing matters, especially if widespread storm damage leads to high claim volumes.
  2. Provide the Essentials: Have your policy number, property address, and a clear description of what happened ready. The more details you can offer upfront, the easier it will be to triage your case.
  3. Submit Documentation
Collect and send any supporting documents—this includes photos of the damage, repair estimates, police or fire reports (if applicable), and receipts for any emergency work already completed.
  4. Work with Your Adjuster: Once your claim is opened, you’ll be assigned an adjuster who will guide you through the next steps. This may involve a virtual or in-person inspection, depending on the nature of the damage.
  5. Follow Through for Resolution: Stay in touch with your adjuster, respond quickly to any requests, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Most TypTap claims are resolved efficiently when communication stays consistent.

Quick Tip: If you’re filing a hurricane-related claim, don’t delay. Early communication can significantly speed up your claim and help you secure necessary repairs before local contractors book up.

Need help navigating the process? Worth Insurance is here to advocate for you. We’ll walk you through the steps, help you organize your documentation, and even liaise with TypTap on your behalf if needed.

Key Competitors

TypTap Insurance Company Key Competitors

Florida’s insurance market is dense with competition, especially for homeowners navigating risks like hurricanes, flooding, and high premiums. TypTap’s digital-first model sets it apart, but it’s not the only carrier embracing innovation or offering solid storm protection.

Notable Competitors:

  • Slide Insurance – AI-driven underwriting with rapid quoting and flexible policy structures
  • Olympus Insurance – Traditional, high-touch carrier focused on comprehensive home protection
  • Tower Hill Insurance – Veteran Florida insurer with a broad portfolio and deep local roots

Comparative Insights

TypTap and Slide Insurance both target the tech-savvy homeowner, but they take slightly different paths. TypTap narrows its focus on homeowners and private flood policies, delivering lightning-fast quotes with a sleek, data-rich backend. Slide casts a wider net—offering more customization, broader underwriting guidelines, and additional perks for those who like to fine-tune every part of their policy.

Olympus Insurance is more of a traditionalist. It appeals to homeowners who want robust hurricane coverage and aren’t as concerned about digital bells and whistles. TypTap wins on speed and automation, while Olympus brings the reassurance of long-standing underwriting and a reputation built on stability and service.

Tower Hill, with decades of Florida experience, is a trusted brand for more complex or older homes that TypTap might decline. It’s also better suited for customers looking to insure multiple property types under one roof. TypTap might appeal more to the digital-first crowd, but Tower Hill still commands attention for its flexibility and depth.

Ultimately, TypTap is a strong fit for Floridians who want fast, reliable protection and don’t need a wide portfolio of extras. For broader needs or a more classic touch, competitors like Slide, Neptune, Olympus, and Tower Hill all bring something valuable to the table.

How TypTap Compares

TypTap and Slide both excel in delivering fast quotes using property-level data and proprietary tech. If you’re someone who prefers minimal paperwork and quick digital service, both are solid options. However, Slide offers a wider array of policy enhancements that might appeal to customers looking for more customization.

When it comes to flood insurance, TypTap competes most directly with Neptune Flood. Both offer streamlined online experiences, but Neptune often wins on broader national availability and more visible coverage tiers. TypTap may have the edge in bundling convenience if you’re already using them for homeowners insurance.

Olympus and Tower Hill offer broader product menus and are generally more lenient when it comes to underwriting older or more complex properties. While TypTap can be strict about roof age or claims history, traditional players may offer workarounds—at the cost of slower service or higher premiums.

If you're a homeowner who values innovation, TypTap and Slide are likely to feel more aligned with your expectations. If experience and long-standing brand trust matter more, Tower Hill or Olympus might offer more peace of mind.

Need help choosing? Worth Insurance can walk you through the pros and cons of each. We work with all the top carriers in Florida and can help you find the one that fits your property—not just the average customer.
